Long Billed Curlew Feeding
This Long Billed Curlew was feeding along the Gulf of Mexico shoreline at South Padre Island National Seashore, the longest stretch of undeveloped barrier island in the world. The remarkably long, downcurved bill allows curlews to forage for deep-burrowing prey such as shrimp and crabs.
