Lloyds

This is an image created from a photo at the recent London workshop. It is the Lloyds building viewed vertically up, including the curved building across the street. 

All of the photo files with the GFX100S from this day and the next were corrupt. What a disappointment. Luckily I was able to recover them using Stellar's recovery software so it all turned out okay.

This was a tremendously time-consuming and difficult image to process for me.

Brutalist 1National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR)

This image is titled Brutalist 1 due to the Brutalist style architecture. It's the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder Colorado. I've been wanting to photograph it for some time. There are several challenging trails that begin there and go up into the foothills so after a hike today I took the opportunity to make several images at NCAR. There are so many interesting angles to explore. Today was just a start.

This is another image from my recent trip to Chicago. The title is "Ignition", and the caption is:

Neon beams ignite,  
Dancing shadows fade away,  
Darkness yields to light.
 

The beams of light seem to me to be converging and igniting a glow.

This image is from a recent trip to Chicago for architectural photos. Being a mecca for architectural photographers, it was great fun making images of the full range of architecture found there.

The natural light the day of this image suggested the outcome. It was an overcast day and it happened that the brightest part of the sky was at the apex of the buildings. So I just continued working with that to get to the final processed image.

Also the dramatic vertical lines pointing to the top of the building add to the image, in my view.

Garibaldi BoathouseOregon - 2023

This image is the old U.S. Coast Guard Boathouse at Garibaldi, Oregon.

I created the image during the Julia Anna Gospodarou Oregon Workshop in Oct/Nov 2023.

It’s a moderately long exposure image of almost 3 minutes. Apparently one bird sat still for the full exposure. It all seems interesting the surprises when you see the image on the big screen.

The scene is a great example of a structure leading into the scene and into the light. It was a stormy day and it was just lucky that the sky cleared a little where it did.

GnarlyGnarled roots anchor Arching cypress canopy - Flowing to the light.

The gnarled roots of this Cypress tree on the bank of the Medina River near Bandera Texas is the reason for the title, "Gnarly". The Medina is a beautiful river in the Texas Hill Country that's lined by towering Cypress trees.

The caption is:

The image was made with an extreme wide angle lens by getting very close to the ground and the roots. I wanted to show the twisting inter-related roots and the lines leading into the light.

Dunes 1Sand gracefully stretches, Mountains as stoic backdrop, With whispering breeze.

This image is titled Dunes 1 and the caption is:

The image was made at White Sands National Park in early 2023. The idea was to capture the sweeping gracefulness of wind-blown sand as contrasted against the dark, stationary mountains in the background.
